Les Tibbo

In-house Electronics Wizard

Born in Newfoundland, Les Tibbo spent the 1960’s growing up in Ottawa, learning to play guitar and tinkering with guitar amps and all things audio. With a technical background in electrical engineering, Tibbo spent 30 years designing equipment for the mobile radio and satellite industry in Ottawa as well as maintaining a project home recording studio.

Upon moving to Nanaimo, BC in 2004, Tibbo opened Quadra Fusion recording studio and resumed his work on Vancouver Island, recording and doing audio repairs.

He is a key member of family-based band Trinitude, as well as an accomplished Country Blues style guitarist. A keen student of history, his songwriting is reflective of the realities and values of the “working man’s” life, and his dynamic instrumental abilities bring these stories to life.

Tibbo is the in-house electronics guy at Arbutus Music in Nanaimo, BC where he designs amplifiers and effects pedals, and performs instrument and electronic repairs. He is currently offering tuition and mentorship in a series of on-going workshops in which students of all ages and abilities build their own amps and effects pedals from scratch.
